New Board President

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 21, 2018

Church Community Outreach Services of the Kennebunks (COS) installed a new Board Chair at its recent meeting, June 19th. Dean Trondle is stepping into the very large shoes of longtime chair Beth Jones who is retiring after many years of generous service as Board member, Executive Director and Board Chair.

Dean Trondle runs New Vision Custom Solutions, a small business consulting firm, based in Kennebunk, and has for several years provided COS with a range of marketing and financial management services.

COS Executive Director Mark Jago has overseen the transition. “We are blessed to have had Beth establish a mission of compassionate assistance. With such a strong foundation, we are poised now to continue that same mission with a new and energized vision for the future in helping meet the emergency needs of our neighbors. The Board and I look forward to working with our new Board Chair, Dean Trondle. His expertise in the business world will definitely bring COS a needed perspective and fresh ideas as to how we can meet the growing needs of our neighbors in the Kennebunks.”

COS, through a large cadre of dedicated volunteers, assist neighbors in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel with food, heating fuel and many other needs throughout the year. COS hosts several fundraisers, including the very popular Farm to Fork Dinner, scheduled this year for August 9th hosted at beautiful Wardbrook Farm in West Kennebunk.

Upcycle Boutique – You Did It!

You Did It!

COS’s 5th Annual Upcycle Boutique last Sunday raised $5000 in much-needed funding that we can now share with our neighbors in need!

We had a terrifically fun afternoon shopping and snacking, and are extremely grateful to our guests, to the many community members and retailers who donated fabulous finds, and of course to our wonderful sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible.

A huge thank you to Weirs Buick GMC for once again hosting us in their spacious showroom, and for helping out in myriad other ways both leading up to the event and during the afternoon. (We commandeered their conference room for a week and they even sent out staff to pick up donations!) They really went above and beyond for us.

Kohl’s not only sponsored our event but sent over volunteers to help us set up on Sunday! Their merchandising skills were a great asset in showcasing the amazing designer clothing, bags and jewelry for our shoppers.

Texas Grace Kitchen kept our guests well-fueled and happy with their superb food and beverages, which they graciously donated. (If they left you hungry for more of their fun fare, check out some photos and get in touch with David at texasgracekitchen.com.)

We are also very grateful to our friends at Farm + Table, Jenn Stonehouse at Franklin American Mortgage, Terrapin Landscapes, and Hazelwood Handyman for helping us to help our community. Funds raised through our sponsors’ support will feed, clothe and warm both the homes and hearts of our neighbors in the coming year.

And, last but not least, our crew of dedicated volunteers were instrumental in making the Upcycle Boutique such a huge success. We love being part of this kind and generous community!

Mildred L. Day School Food Drive

COS wants to thank the students of Mildred L. Day School for such a successful Food Drive. We were taken back by the organization and presentation, the spirit of the students and the whole event. You are to be commended for a job well done!

We are pleased to report that the poundage of food this year exceeded last year’s amount. The school students raised 1,644 pounds of food! On behalf of COS, we thank you and every teacher and student that made this Food Drive for COS such a huge success! This food will be very much appreciated and needed by the neighbors we serve.
