The Great Pillow Art Challenge

Pillows Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk! Imagine a world with shelter for everyone. Charities across Maine are trying to eliminate this devastating problem affecting needy people of all ages. Southern Maine’s most talented artists and Hurlbutt Designs’ staff, patrons, and friends have decided it’s time to change the way we approach the problem of homelessness.

Twenty of Southern Maine’s most talented artists were given a two foot square of material to produce a piece of artwork they’d like for a pillow. Challenge accepted! Join us for a fun night at Hurlbutt Designs to enjoy the exhibit of these spectacular mini-masterpieces and a silent auction to benefit two charities: COS and Preble St. Teen Center.

New Board President

Church Community Outreach Services of the Kennebunks (COS) installed a new Board Chair at its recent meeting, June 19th. Dean Trondle is stepping into the very large shoes of longtime chair Beth Jones who is retiring after many years of generous service as Board member, Executive Director and Board Chair.

Dean Trondle runs New Vision Custom Solutions, a small business consulting firm, based in Kennebunk, and has for several years provided COS with a range of marketing and financial management services.

COS Executive Director Mark Jago has overseen the transition. “We are blessed to have had Beth establish a mission of compassionate assistance. With such a strong foundation, we are poised now to continue that same mission with a new and energized vision for the future in helping meet the emergency needs of our neighbors. The Board and I look forward to working with our new Board Chair, Dean Trondle. His expertise in the business world will definitely bring COS a needed perspective and fresh ideas as to how we can meet the growing needs of our neighbors in the Kennebunks.”

COS, through a large cadre of dedicated volunteers, assist neighbors in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel with food, heating fuel and many other needs throughout the year. COS hosts several fundraisers, including the very popular Farm to Fork Dinner, scheduled this year for August 9th hosted at beautiful Wardbrook Farm in West Kennebunk.
