Meet The Team
COS Team
COS is blessed to have a team of individuals that are dedicated, compassionate, and competent to serve in their capacity at COS.
Mark Jago - Executive Director 2011
I started as a volunteer at COS in August, 2011 assisting the founding Executive Director who was having some health issues. A year later I was asked to join the COS board. While serving as a board member I was asked by the Board of Directors to become the next Executive Director. I accepted and started in my current role in July 2018 – a part time position.

The COVID pandemic hit in 2020 and demand for the services and programs COS offered surged dramatically. Recognizing the need for full time leadership, the Board asked me to increase my role to full time January 2022. This was the perfect fit for my passion and my experiences in administration and management in the non-profit sector and helping others.
I am absolutely convinced it is my niche. I can truly say there has been no greater sense of satisfaction and joy in my life than what I am doing now to help those in need who want to live here in the beautiful Kennebunks.
In my spare time, I love being with my wife Beccy and especially when we go on our “Adventure trips” like visiting our family and grandchildren, camping, hiking, and spending time in the great New England outdoors. I also love playing basketball every week with a great group of guys.
David Higham - Food Programs Director 2020
I started volunteering at COS just as the COVID pandemic hit, having just moved back to Kennebunk. I played basketball with Executive Director Mark Jago and he needed help scaling up the food pantry to meet the rapidly expanding demand. A few months later, I was asked to join the COS part time staff as Food Programs Coordinator.

While my title has changed, my primary responsibility remains the same: sourcing as much healthy and nutritious food as possible while spending as little as feasible. I do this by managing a host of different food channels: donations, food drives, discounted purchases through partners like Good Shepherd Food Bank and local businesses – and as needed cost effective purchasing from other retail sources.
I assist COS in other areas, including software analysis and deployment, managing website, email, and office management tools. My professional background mix of marketing, software, project management, and hospitality serves me well in the various roles I handle at COS.
After splitting time between California and Maine the last couple decades, my wife and I are now happily settled back in Kennebunk. When not working we love to travel, ski, hike – and she snorkels while I SCUBA. I also enjoy beating COS ED Mark Jago in basketball 🙂
Stephanie Hatfield - Assistant to the Director 2022
As the role and responsibilities of the Executive Director increased dramatically, COS reached out to see if I would be interested in joining their administrative team. I was very familiar with the mission of the organization as I had the good fortune to work with COS in a previous role. I was excited to join the team!

I immediately jumped in and assisted in the areas of office administration, operational finances, and generally helping Mark in areas of need.
I enjoy welcoming new neighbors to COS and helping them enroll for the first time. Bringing encouragement and kindness to folks facing a challenging time is an important and very fulfilling part of my job. I help our director with daily tasks, bookkeeping, and other projects to ensure things keep running smoothly.
I live in Wells with my husband, Andy, and two teenagers. In my free time, I enjoy watching my kids participate in their various activities and sports.
Roe Mignogna - Volunteer Coordinator 2021
I joined COS as a Pantry Greeter and now also serve as the Volunteer Coordinator, managing schedules for the Food Pantry and other special events. I love interacting with our volunteers who are always willing to help. I track and report volunteer hours so the Executive Director can convey to our supporters the incredible support we receive. I also log the numerous food donations COS receives from neighbors and local businesses.

I previously lived and worked in NY and have more than 30 years of experience working with
technology. This enabled me to help with projects implementing software to manage the volunteer base and track neighbor visits to the Food Pantry. I’m happy to share my skills and experience to help fulfill the COS mission.
COS was a natural fit for me, having served on the board of Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank and also volunteering at a soup kitchen. After working in a corporate environment, volunteering at COS is a refreshing change. The Administrative Team and volunteers truly care about our communities and the people that come through our doors.
I live in Kennebunkport with my husband. We always wanted to live in Maine. I have one adult son living in Virginia, so we travel to visit him often. My hobbies include gardening and baking. Sharing recipes with neighbors that visit the pantry is always fun.
Patsy Hemeon - Food Drive Coordinator 2020
I joined COS as a personal shopper on Tuesdays during the COVID “recovery” period, working with a great team of volunteers and an endearing group of neighbors who care about each other deeply. Having been involved with food drives at the school where I had worked, I asked about how they worked at COS. Lo and behold, the coordinator at the time was looking for someone to take these over. I dove right in and have learned a lot about the generosity of so many.

My husband and I retired to Maine from Topsfield, Massachusetts in 2019. After teaching
second graders for forty years. I feel so fortunate to be on the Administrative Team with an amazing group of talented, friendly, and giving people. The whole atmosphere of COS is one of warmth and caring and it is a joy to be a part of that. I also do Zumba and work at an estate sale company.
I knit, crochet, and needle felt, trying out different ideas and patterns. I enjoy time with my husband, Farish and my greatest joy is being close enough to our daughter and granddaughter, who live in Bethel, and Farish’s son and his wife who live in York, to see them often.
Darryl Clark - Food Delivery Coordinator 2021
I started volunteering picking up groceries from Hannaford, stocking shelves, and occasional community events. Since last year, I have served as the delivery coordinator, helping to bring food to those who aren’t able to visit the pantry. COS started a Mobile Food Pantry with a generous grant from Good Shepherd Food Bank. Our team of volunteers and staff sourced, built out, and now run a large trailer to bring food out to the community.

I recently retired from a career in Database Marketing. I maintain an ongoing interest in food security and supporting small-scale local farming. I previously owned and ran a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm, an organic produce home delivery business, and a community garden, all in central Massachusetts.
I grew up visiting family in Kennebunk, where my dad was born and where my relatives still live. About 5 years ago I moved to Kennebunk and enjoyed getting to know people that make up our amazing community. I have an interest in boating and studied Marine Systems at the Landing School in Arundel Maine. I volunteer for Sailing Ships Maine, helping to maintain the boats they use for their youth sailing programs.
