How to Help

This past year, COS served 559 individuals in 281 households with the help of 115 volunteers who donated over 7000 hours. We sourced 136,137 pounds of no-cost food valued at $261,383

There are several ways to get involved to alleviate food insecurity among our neighbors.

Organize a Food Drive

Food drives are great opportunities for company team building, honoring special occasions, student community service programs, family or organization-based giving initiatives, sporting events, or outreach programs.

Food drives don’t need to be complicated. Contact COS to register your food drive and obtain a list of high-need items like canned soups, condiments, canned fruits, paper goods or other nonperishhable items. At the conclusion, contact Community Outreach Services to arrange for a drop off day and time.

COS will work with you to coordinate your event by:

  • Providing information about best food collection practices
  • Providing a list of immediate high need items
  • Providing posters and collection bags
  • Promoting your event and food drive on social media

Decide when, where, and how you will hold your food drive and contact us at [email protected] or 207-985-3844.

Volunteer

While our mission is heartfelt it couldn’t happen without our small staff and our enthusiastic core of over 100 active volunteers guided by an engaged board of community leaders. Together they greet neighbors, organize pantry shelves, deliver food donations, and support special programs like the Holiday Food Basket Drive. Join our team and make a real difference – neighbors helping neighbors. Please reach out to us to find out how you can be a part of the COS Team.

Sponsors and Partners

Local businesses, organizations, and family sponsors play an important role in COS’s success. Partners help supply food and items for the COS Food Pantry on a routine basis. Sponsors support our pantry shelves and fund our food delivery program. Both receive prominent recognition for their support across digital and printed marketing. From sponsoring a pantry shelf to supporting our mobile van, partners help extend our reach in the community.

We welcome sponsors to participate on their areas of interest and expertise. This may include funding special projects or hosting an event. COS staff are available to speak at sponsor hosted events about the needs in the community and our ongoing outreach initiatives. To learn more please contact COS at [email protected]

Your donations help Community Outreach Services serve individuals and families in the towns of Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport who are facing challenges with food, fuel, and other essential needs. Thank you for your support!
