Specific Needs Program
The Specific Needs program supports our neighbors in times of need who require a little extra help now to make ends meet. We realize in addition to our elderly neighbors, many single parents and families also struggle to pay rent, get their cars repaired, keep their children provided with clothes, medical attention, and necessary supplies.
COS works directly with local General Assistance (GA) offices in Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport to support neighbors through this program. Examples of assistance provided include: eye exams and glasses, clothing, medical attention, car repairs, rent, utility bill payments, summer camp scholarships, gasoline and similar emergency support needs. COS also supports social workers, police department and church pastors and responds to requests for help for children from school nurses, administrators, and social workers.
Neighbors can submit requests for assistance by contacting their local General Assistance office.
